Seeking to build on the momentum of a stellar finish to the 2010-11 regular season, the Denver Nuggets are scheduled to open 2011-12 on the road against Northwest Division rival Portland on Thursday Nov. 3.
The Nuggets, who went 18-7 down the stretch to complete their fourth straight 50-win season, are slated to play their home-opener at the Pepsi Center on Saturday Nov. 5 against the Golden State Warriors.
As one of only three teams to make the playoffs in eight consecutive years, Denver will once again be one of the most-watched teams in the NBA. The Nuggets are scheduled to be featured nationally 19 times – nine on ESPN, five on TNT and five on NBA TV. At least 77 regular-season games will be televised by Altitude Sports & Entertainment.
The reigning NBA champion Dallas Mavericks are scheduled to play in Denver on Nov. 25 and March 19, while the Los Angeles Lakers will travel to the Pepsi Center on Feb. 21 and April 18. The New York Knicks are set to make their lone Denver appearance on Nov. 16, and the Miami Heat will visit the Mile High City on Jan. 13.
“The Nuggets ended the regular season with so much excitement and that momentum has really helped our season ticket sales thus far,” said Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer for the Nuggets.
Playing in one of the most demanding divisions in the NBA, the Nuggets are scheduled to play at defending Northwest Division champion Oklahoma City on Nov. 18 and Feb. 19, with home dates Dec. 1 and April 9.
In addition to the season-opener, Denver is set to play at Portland on Feb. 4 and will host the Trail Blazers on Nov. 9 and Feb. 29. The Nuggets face the Utah Jazz at home Dec. 16 and Feb. 3 and will travel to Salt Lake City on Dec. 26 and March 23. Denver is set to welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 20 and April 11, with road games Jan. 10 and March 25.
The four Western Conference teams that the Nuggets are scheduled to play just three times are the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs.
Denver fans are poised to enjoy a season-long seven-game homestand from Nov. 22 to Dec. 5. The Nuggets are scheduled to embark on an eight-game road trip from March 23 to April 4, matching the longest trip in franchise history.
