RAPIDS TO HOST FAITH AND FUTBOL NIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 24

Midfielder Wells Thompson to speak at the event presented by Colorado Christian University

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, September 20, 2011) -The Colorado Rapids and Colorado Christian University are teaming up to present Faith and Futbol Night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, September 24, when the Rapids take on the San Jose Earthquakes in their first of three remaining regular season home games. The event will feature speeches from Rapids midfielder Wells Thompson and former Liverpool player Gary Evans, the current head coach of the men's team at Colorado Christian University, as well as live performances by Christian rock groups Chasen and Everfound.

Faith and Futbol Night, which will be held in the grass and parking lots on the Southeast side of the stadium, will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Throughout the event there will be prizes and giveaways, which include Rapids tickets and signed merchandise. In between musical performances, Evans will introduce Thompson who will give his testimony. Evans, who began his career as a player with the Liverpool Football Club, spent time playing in the North American Soccer League (Edmonton), the American Soccer League (California Sunshine), and the Major Indoor Soccer League (Cleveland) before joining the coaching staff at CCU in 1996.

The opening band Everfound, a pop-rock group based in Denver, Colo., consists of four brothers whose music is driven by their Christian faith. Chasen, the headlining group, is a Christian rock band from Greenville, S.C. with recording label INO Records and have released four albums, most recently That Was Then, This Is Now in 2010.
