COLORADO RAPIDS TO MEET FC DALLAS IN 2010 MLS CUP

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Sunday, November 14, 2010) – The Colorado Rapids will face FC Dallas in the 2010 MLS Cup on Sunday, November 21 at BMO Field in Toronto. The game will be televised live on ESPN and TeleFutura at 6:30 p.m. MT.

The Eastern Conference Champion Rapids punched their ticket to Toronto with a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday night behind Kosuke Kimura’s game winner in the 42nd minute.

In winning the East - as a result of the current playoff structure which placed two West playoff teams in the East bracket - the Rapids became the first team in MLS history to win both conference trophies. Colorado won the Western Conference Championship in 1997 on their way to their first MLS Cup appearance.

FC Dallas defeated the LA Galaxy 3-0 on Sunday at The Home Depot Center to claim the Western Conference Championship and advance to their 1st MLS Cup appearance.

This will be the 5th time these clubs have met in the playoffs, but the first time in a championship game. The Rapids have never lost to Dallas in a postseason series.

Colorado and Dallas tied in each of their two regular season meetings this year. The teams played to a 1-1 result on July 31 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park followed by a 2-2 draw on October 9 at Pizza Hut Park.
