RAPIDS’ OMAR CUMMINGS CALLED INTO JAMAICAN NATIONAL TEAM

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, August 27, 2010) — Colorado Rapids forward Omar Cummings has been called up by the Jamaican National Team for their international friendly against Costa Rica on September 5 at the National Stadium in Jamaica as well as the team’s international friendly against Peru on September 7 at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Cummings has respectfully declined the invitation for the September 5 match, as he is in the final stages of receiving his United States permanent residency (green card), and during this stage, he is not permitted to leave the U.S. He will, however, be joining the National Team for their September 7 contest in Florida.

Cummings will not miss any games with the Rapids as a result of these call ups. Colorado are scheduled to play Chivas USA on September 4 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and the New York Red Bulls on September 11 at Red Bull Arena.

The Bodles Crescent, Jamaica native has 17 career caps with the Reggae Boyz and has scored three goals in international competition.
