(Thursday, August 4, 2011) – The Colorado Rapids learned their opponents for the CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage on Wednesday night, as Preliminary Round matches were played to determine the final two teams in Group B. Santos Laguna of Mexico and Isidro Metapán of El Salvador won Preliminary matches, joining automatic qualifiers Real España of Honduras and the Rapids in the four-team group.

CONCACAF announced on Thursday the first two matches of the Group Stage, with the Rapids traveling to face Real España of Honduras on Tuesday, August 23.

(Tuesday, July 19, 2011) – Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after suffering a torn left Achilles tendon during the Rapids match on Saturday at Seattle Sounders FC. Casey, who leads the Rapids with six goals this season, will undergo surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be out approximately eight months while recovering.

The Colorado Rapids were honored by President Barack Obama at the White House in Washington, D.C. today, celebrating the team’s victory in MLS Cup 2010. The Rapids toured the White House, presented President Obama with a team jersey, and then ran a soccer clinic on the South Lawn for children of military families.

WASHINGTON--On Monday, June 27, President Obama will welcome Major League Soccer champions, the Colorado Rapids to the White House to honor their 2010 season and their MLS Cup victory. This visit will also continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as well as for winning championships as part of their trip to Washington.
